Thank you for following our progress during the ARC+. It feels good to know that the company supports and takes a real interest in their boats once they leave La Rochelle.
Are you happy with the performance of Bigbird, your NEEL 47 that you acquired only a few months ago?
Of course, you all know how well the boat handles itself, but I was extremely impressed with how well she handled surfing down waves and logging a top speed of 22.7 knots during the crossing.
Bigbird was a very popular boat during the rally as it is still rare enough that so many people wanted to check it out. That was also the case all summer in the Mediterranean. We always had people circling the boat in anchorages gawking and taking photos.
What is Bigbird’s program now?
We are working our way up the Windward Islands and will be stopping in Martinique after Christmas. And then, continue the journey through the Bahamas to the United States in March.

Although it is difficult to rejoice when our entire planet is fighting such an enemy, we savour the announcement of the victory of the NEEL 47, elected Multihull of the year 2020.
We would like to congratulate and thank all those who took part in this victory: the public, the organizers of the prize, the employees of NEEL-TRIMARANS, the Marc Lombard Design architectural firm, the owners who put their trust in us.
This is a great reward for NEEL-TRIMARANS, which has been working for 10 years to build innovative and high-performance trimarans.
We are very proud and happy to share this victory with you.

The NEEL 47 MINIMOLE arrived 1st overall in the Rallye l’ARC+ on Tuesday 3rd December, after a 12 day crossing, beating the 2nd by 35 miles. THE NEEL 47 had already finished 1st (all categories combined) on the first stage of the Rally between the Canary Islands and the Cape Verde Islands.ARC + NEEL ranking
3 NEEL trimarans were racing in this edition, their ranking in the multihull category is as follows:- NEEL 47 MINIMOLE (Italian crew) : 1st (all categories combined)
- NEEL 51 SAN (German crew) : 4th (multihull category)
- NEEL 51 (Norwegian crew) : still in the race on December 4th, positioned to finish 6th in the multihull category

]]>“The preparation time for the boat was relatively limited. Indeed Minimole was launched on September 16, 2019 in La Rochelle.
The boat’s owner, Aldo Fumagalli was entering the transatlantic race for the first time, but from the outset he made wise choices that would later prove to be a winner: the boat, its equipment and the selection of the crew.
Minimole is equipped with racing rigging: carbon mast, increased mainsail. The purchase of a large Parasailor will prove to be an excellent way to achieve good speeds in downwind conditions.
The owner is recruiting an experienced sailor with extensive offshore racing experience, Patrick Philippon, to prepare his boat. He will meticulously take care of the boat’s tuning, safety and final adjustments.
From the start in La Rochelle, the objective is clear: to be competitive in the multihull category. The NEEL 47 was one of the smallest multihulls registered in the ARC+.
Minimole will complete her first 350 miles as she leaves the port of La Rochelle in complete serenity with downwind conditions and speeds of up to 20 knots.
I was immediately confident at the helm of Minimole: the boat exudes safety and stability.
When we arrived in Galicia, we fine-tuned the settings with a clearly stated race objective and we optimised the boat’s potential, which we know is high. We receive the Parasailor (255 m2 sail) with circumspection from the start. It will later turn out that we will revise our judgement on this sail and that we will be very satisfied with it.
The day of the start of the Rally finally arrives in Las Palmas.
This first stage will be sustained, the crew and the boat are on “the front foot” and a 1st place finish in Cape Verde confirms the performance of the boat and the motivation and enthusiasm of the crew. During the stopover, the crew are once again dedicated to preparing and optimising the boat for the 2nd leg, which will present new wind and sea conditions.
The new start is given on November 21, 2019 from Mindelo.
We were strategic and cautious on this 2nd leg. It was conclusive, since we arrived 1st of the Rally, in all categories combined, happy and proud!”

]]>The judges of the famous magazine “Cruising World” have elected the trimaran NEEL 47 “Best full-size multihull of the year”. A new award 2 days after the victory of the NEEL 47 Minimole of the ARC+, which proves the performance of this trimaran.
They were particularly impressed by the navigation experience, which was rather unusual thanks to the steering station on the flybridge, the design of the boat and its very comfortable behaviour in terms of balance.
